Thanks for your message!
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
We are delighted to announce that Ben Marsden will be CHC Men's 1s Head Coach for the coming season. His remit will also include a role on the CHC Executive Committee, providing input and valuable experience to help shape the club's coaching vision.
Ben Marsden is a local to Cheltenham. He was educated at Charlton Kings Junior School, then Balcarras and Dean Close.
His illustrious hockey career started at Cheltenham Junior Hockey Club, which was founded by his dad, the inimitable Peter Marsden. Ben was playing national league hockey for Cheltenham at the age of 15, and when he first moved to London as a student he played for Teddington and Surbiton. What followed was what dreams are made of, including playing full-time hockey in Australia and Spain, and representing his country more than 80 times. Highlights included two World Cups, two European Cups, two Commonwealth Games, and of course the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
Ben went on to spend 11 years as Director of Hockey at Wimbledon HC where he grew the junior section significantly and, under his leadership, the club won numerous Premiership titles progressing to the final four in Europe.
Since returning to Cheltenham in 2018, Ben has made regular appearances for CHC Men's 2s and Over 40s. He's a valuable member of the CHC community and we are all delighted that he has agreed to take a coaching role with us.
Welcome, Ben!
