The U18 boys travelled to play Oxford HC Wildcats in the third round of the National tournament. We only had 11 players and no substitutes against a substantial Oxford squad, so it was going to be a physical challenge.
We went 2-0 down from two well taken penalty corners and took a little while to find our rhythm. However, over time we started to exit better and push forward.
The second half saw some excellent hockey from both sides. With 10 minutes to go, Josh Gordon scored twice to bring it 2-2 at full time as our passing accuracy really stepped up.
Unfortunately, we narrowly lost out on penalty flicks. The team will however continue to compete in the plate. With a full complement for the next round, it bodes well for the team.
Strong debut performances from Jack Wallis and Tammo Conrads.
