U16 Girls West Indoor Finals

A strong U16G indoor team travelled to Wellington School to play in the West Indoor Finals. Taunton Vale failed to turn up for their first match but were allowed to play it later. This meant that Clifton Robinsons gained early match experience with a game against Firebrands winning 4-2. We played well against Clifton but did not quite reach our full potential. Losing 2-1 with our goal scorer being Tilda with a well taken goal.

With one game behind us we really turned it on against Firebrands playing with great confidence. Matty sustained an off the ball injury to the face from a wayward stick but with a steri strip applied she battled on. Goals came from Poppy (4), Tilda, Hanna, Evie and Jess. Taunton beat Clifton, so we just needed to beat Taunton to go through on goal difference.

Sadly, we facilitated Taunton scoring their first goal, then they got a second to put them two up but this only encouraged a fight back with us dominating the second half of the match. Rose also had a stick in the mouth off the ball, which further incentivised her! Tilda scored a PF but we missed a second PF, and we had a Hanna PC saved on the line at waist height. It was not to be and we lost 2-1.

We were the best team at the Tournament and played good indoor hockey but sadly it was not to be this year. Well done to all our participants and particularly our debutants.
